Brake Rotor Wear Signs Every Driver Should Know
Scoring, a lip on the edge and a blue tint all point at different causes. Reading the rotor before you pay for pads saves you a second visit.

No hidden extras, no mystery line items. Apexsupplydirects lists real prices for brake overhauls and exhaust upgrades, parts and labour included.
How we price
Every figure on this page covers parts, labour and the consumables that go with the job, so you are not paying separately for brake cleaner, thread locker or a fresh set of bolts. The starting prices below are for the most common vehicles we see at Eagle Street: a mid-sized ute, a family sedan, a small SUV. A European car with genuine hardware, a 4WD with a corroded underbody or anything that has sat outside for a decade will land higher, and we tell you the moment we know.
We quote before we start. If the job grows once the wheels are off, we ring you with the extra figure and wait for a yes. Nothing is added to the invoice after the fact. That is not a marketing line; it is the reason our return rate is 1.8% and most customers are repeat buyers.
Brake System Overhaul
Priced per axle, not per wheel, because half a brake job is not a brake job. Full page breakdown lives on Brake System Overhaul.
Front axle only
from $749
Front and rear
from $1,340
Most complete
from $1,890
Brake add-ons
These are the jobs that come up once the wheels are off. We only add one if the inspection says it is actually needed, and you get asked first.
$119. Full system bleed with fresh Dot 4, moisture tested before and after. Worth doing every two years even if nothing else needs touching.
From $240. Seals, pistons if pitted, and a full clean. Often cheaper than a replacement caliper and better matched to the rest of the system.
From $295. Four braided lines, new banjo washers, full bleed. Sharper pedal feel, especially on a car that has seen ten years of rubber swell.
$65. Only offered when the rotor is thick enough to stay above the minimum after machining. If it is not, we will say so instead of taking the money.
Performance Exhaust Upgrade
Systems are priced by size and material, not by badge on the car. Detailed breakdown sits on Performance Exhaust Upgrade.
Entry option
from $890
Most booked
from $1,290
Full custom
from $2,150
Exhaust extras
If you are doing the work yourself or only need one component changed, these are the buy-in prices for the parts we keep on the shelf.
From $340 supplied and fitted. Straight-through or baffled, in stainless or mild steel. Useful when the rest of the system is fine and the muffler has rusted through.
From $620 fitted. Only offered where the vehicle will still pass the emissions test for its build year, and we will say so before you pay.
From $280 fitted. The fix for a drone between 90 and 110 km/h. Adds a small weight penalty and quietens the cabin without killing the tone.
From $120 per hanger. Sometimes the only way to stop a rattle on a lowered car. Fabricated on the lift, positioned against the actual underbody.

Freight and delivery
We do not pad freight into the item price and then make it look free. This is what the courier actually charges, plus a small packing fee.
$18 flat rate. Same-day delivery on stocked lines ordered before 1pm. Courier tracking sent within an hour of dispatch.
$32 flat rate to Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra metro. Typically one to two working days. Rotors are double-boxed for a reason.
From $58, priced by postcode and weight. Heavy exhaust systems go by freight, not parcel post. We confirm the figure before charging.
From $145, air freight. Duties and local VAT are the buyer's responsibility. We supply the commercial invoice with the export code included.
FAQ
If your question is not here, ring the workshop. The phone is answered by a person and usually within three rings.
Yes, if you send the rego or VIN plus a description of the noise or symptom. We quote against the parts diagram and give you a firm number for parts and labour, and a range for the labour if the job could grow once the wheels are off. The range is usually narrow, and the initial inspection is free.
We ring you with the new figure and wait for a yes. No work is added without your approval. If we find something the initial quote could not have caught, such as a seized caliper bolt or a cracked mounting point, you will see the cost before any of it happens.
Where we can, yes, on identical part numbers. Where we cannot, we explain why. Sometimes the cheaper listing is a different pad compound or a lower grade rotor and the saving is not worth it. We will tell you when the online option is genuinely fine.
Yes, every figure on this page includes GST. Freight also includes GST. The invoice breaks it out separately so you can claim it if you are a business, which a lot of our tradie customers do.
You ring us and we bring it back in. The full process, including the timeframes, is set out in our Refund Policy. In practice most issues are a bedding-in nuance or a rattle we missed, and both get sorted on the next visit at no charge.
No. The brake health check at $89 is only charged if you do not go ahead with any work. If you book a job with us the check is credited back against the invoice, so it is effectively free when you proceed. See the price list for the full breakdown.
