Brake System Overhaul
Apexsupplydirects rebuilds brake systems the way a workshop should: matched rotors and pads, fresh fluid, properly bedded. If your pedal has gone soft or the wheel shakes under braking, this is the fix. We work on daily drivers, tow rigs and weekend cars across Brisbane.
What a proper brake overhaul involves
Most brake complaints come from mismatched parts, tired fluid or a caliper that hangs up. We replace rotors and pads together, flush the hydraulic circuit, and check every caliper piston moves freely. Sizing is matched to your vehicle weight and how you actually drive it, not a generic parts catalogue listing. Rotors are machined or replaced depending on thickness readings we show you before work starts.
- Rotor and pad sets matched to vehicle mass, axle load and driving style
- Hydraulic flush with moisture test results printed for your records
- Caliper strip, clean and piston check on every corner
Brake fluid is not a lifetime part
DOT 4 fluid absorbs moisture through rubber hoses and the reservoir cap. Once it passes three percent water by volume, boiling point drops fast and the pedal goes long under hard use. Our flush removes the old fluid and replaces it with fresh stock tested on the bench before it goes in.

Fifteen years under cars, not behind a counter
Apexsupplydirects started in a two-bay shed on the south side and still runs the same booking system: you speak to the tech doing the work. Our brake bench has been the same since 2017 and every rotor gets a runout reading before it goes on the hub. We keep common pad shapes in stock, so most jobs finish the same day you drop the car off.
- Runout and thickness measurements logged per corner, shown to you
- Same-day fitment on stock pad shapes for popular utes and SUVs
- Bedding procedure completed before you pick the car up

How a brake job runs here
Six checkpoints from drop-off to key handover. Each one gets signed off before the next starts.
Drop-off and symptom trace
You walk the car with the tech, describe when the noise or shake shows up, and we log the odometer and tyre pressures.
Wheel-off inspection
Every corner comes off. We measure pad thickness, rotor runout and disc temperature, and photograph anything marginal.
Written quote before spanners move
You get a printed or emailed quote listing parts, labour and any extras we found. Nothing gets touched until you say go.
Strip and fit
Calipers come off, pistons inspected, slides greased, new rotors degreased, pads bedded with the correct compound shims.
Hydraulic flush
Old fluid is drawn out from the caliper furthest from the reservoir and replaced corner by corner with fresh DOT fluid. Pedal is bled twice.
Bedding run and handover
The car goes for a real drive, brakes get a proper bedding cycle, and you leave with a printout of every measurement taken.
From the bench
A few recent jobs and what we found once the wheels came off.
Brake questions we get asked
Straight answers without warranty-baiting language.
Not always. A slow sink at idle is often a tired caliper seal or brake hose pulling air in. We pressure-test the whole circuit and only replace the master if the bench test confirms bypass.
No. If the rotor is above minimum thickness and has runout within spec, we machine the surface and refit. We show you the measurements before deciding either way.
Yes for most vehicles. On-car machining corrects hub runout that a bench lathe cannot see. Cars with slotted or drilled rotors go on the bench instead because the cutter doesn't like the slots.
Usually within the first 300 to 500 km if the bedding run is done properly. If it persists past a week, come back. Squeal after that period normally means a shim or slide is dry.
Yes on any car older than three years. Moisture in fluid cuts the boiling point and shortens caliper seal life. A flush is cheaper than a caliper replacement.
Book a brake inspection
Tell us the car, what it is doing, and when you can leave it. We book brake work into half-day slots so you are not without wheels longer than needed.
